Played a wonderful game of modified Ak 47 with Private D. earlier tonight. No real narrative, just two Imagi-nations going at it in a shared desert. Really just a happy opportunity to play with tanks and helicopters and blow things up while drinking Private D's fantastic mead.

Rebels Attack An Airport
Ak 47 this afternoon. The People's Army perfectly time an attack on a military airport. The goal: to gain an air force.

Technical Time
Two Rebel groups turn and battle each other for the prize of entering the last major city still in Government hands. Rules were AK47 Reloaded slightly modified to suit the situation. Really the game was just a fun excuse for Private D and I to play with a whole lot of technicals.

Pure AK Magic
Zipped to fictional Africa for another rip-roaring AK 47 game with Private D. last night. AK 47 is simply one of the best games ever! Sometimes I can do without the whole pre-game stuff, but once it gets going on the table it just rocks. I rolled up all the pre-game stuff before Private D. arrived to save time for the actual battle. My Dictatorship Army ended up with only two Militia units on the table to face the majority of Private D's invading White Colonialist Army (most of whom were classed as Professional). The first couple of turns saw the invaders advance unmolested. My poor Militia started taking quite a lot of casualities and was soon forced to fall back. The Assets portion of the turns (one of my most favourite elements of the rules) brought me an ineffective airstrike, one reinforcement unit, and one attack helicopter (only to have it blown up by a (flying) landmine!!!!). Anyway, the game was great fun.

The Invasion of Sweden
Whew! Just finished a super fast game brought about by the generous loan of my brother Sgt. Strange's 20mm "Swiss Army". Thought it would be fun to use AK 47 Reloaded for a Cold War game. And it was! AK 47 rules!
So, it is 1987 and the Soviet High Command are convinced that the seizing of Sweden must be the main objective in any conflict with the West. A crack armoured division is given the honour of spearheading the invasion, and begins motoring through Northern Sweden. Unfortunately, the Swedish 7th Brigade, fresh from Switzerland, races to meet the invaders.
Soviets draw first blood. The Swedes respond with American airpower.
But it is completely ineffective! The Soviets laugh and charge forward shooting wildly. The S-Tanks remain stationary and also shoot wildly. The Swedes then disembark from their M113s.
They manage to successfully call in another American airstrike. This time it is very deadly.

BTR-80's are burning, and all of the T-72's end up being pinned! An incredible airstrike!! The Soviets have to take a huge Morale Test with eight dice(!) and fail four of them which means they have to rout. Zap. Game over.
