Green Orks and Green Marines

Private Noob came by for his second game.  This time a straight (mostly) 3rd Ed. 40K.  Orks and my brother's Space Marines.   Poor Orks.  Good chips.  Super game.

Private Noob's first game

Welcome to Private Noob!  Private Noob has never played with miniatures but has been curious, so I invited him over for a game.  The situation:  A Superpower's Attack Helicopter has crash-landed in the no-man's land between two rival insurgent groups. 

And both groups want to have an attack helicopter!

The game was a nice excuse to get out my 28mm Ak 47 stuff.

And these guys too.  This was an ebay purchase from a while back.  I think these figs are great.  It is transactions like this that make ebay such a temptation and a danger.

The last technical surrenders.

Used a mash of 3rd Ed. 40k with Force on Force reactions and Ak 47 randomness.  It worked very well, although I think it was a bit too much for a newbie's first game.   Oh well, I hope he'll play again.

The Princess Is In Trouble (Again)!

Just finished up a very fun Star Wars/3rd Ed. 40K game with Private D.   Princess Leia's ship had crash-landed in an Imperial field right beside a Rodian Gambling House.  Within moments the forces of Empire were on the scene.

Ben desperately tries to hold back the Stormtroopers.  But he is old and the Princess is captured.

But then a Rebel rescue party appears.

After a brief fight, Leia is freed and she finishes off her last two captors.

Rebels!

The Other Day I thought how about how perfect third edition 40K would be to use with the plastic Star Wars guys...

Darth Maul and his apprentice lead a daring attack on the Republic base on Garrick Morgan 4.

Obi and a band of Jedis and Wookies come to aid the Clones.

 
In a blur Darth Maul charges the Jedis, taking out one and wounding everyone else (including two wounds on Obi-wan!).

Luckily a Clone Sniper (the last remaining Clone left in the base) fires a lucky shot into the combat which manages to momentarily divert Darth.

And allow Obi and the remaining Jedis to escape.

Third Edition 40K on the Living Room Floor

I love 3rd Ed. 40K!  Yes, I do.  It was the ruleset that brought me back into gaming after a dark age of neglect.  Anyway, I was craving a super quick game and the next thing I knew I was on the rug with a bunch of Valhallans, Halflings and Sisters.  Alright!  ...Yeah.

It was a fun bash ending with the Missionary chasing the remaining Imperial guardsmen off the rug.  Righteousness triumphs again!
