Romans and Celts

Private D and I revisited our old friends, Romans and Celts, earlier tonight in a fantastic Warhammer Anicents Battle.

The Kid wanted me to include these guys.  He had just build the kit while Private D and I were setting up.

The battle was full of drama and laughter, and twists and turns.  In the end the Romans (minus their General) hold the field.

Holiday Monday

Two games today!

General Grevious commands a Droid force to seize light-sabres and Gonks from a Jedi gathering.

Jedis in a blur of action.  This was Yoda's first game with us and also the first one using the great scenary pieces The Kid made for my Christmas present.

Kit Fisto before he bests the Magna Guards, and the Jedis win the battle.

Later in the afternoon Prof. Elf brought his family over and we were able to enjoy a great Warhammer fantasy blast.   The Dwarf Civil War has started up again...

Two Border Princes Settle Some Things In Harold's Field

Start of the Christmas holidays.  Was to have a three-way Warhammer fantasy game with Prof. Elf and Private D tonight - our first three-way game since a Legends of the Old West shoot-out over three years ago.   Anyway, it was not to be.  Luckily Private D. still made it over and we enjoyed a quick game of wonderful sixth edition Warhammer.

One of the reasons for the game was to play with these great old guys.  Here the Warlord finds glory again!

Harold.  Of Harold's Field.

Private D.'s two charmed magic users (Lv. II Lore of Metal and Lv.I Lore of Fire) who spent three turns standing in the middle of the field happily casting spells and IGNORING the arrows of  three units of my useless Longbowmen!!

It was a fantastic game.

Rebels Attack An Airport

Ak 47 this afternoon.  The People's Army perfectly time an attack on a military airport.  The goal:  to gain an air force.

And then the Kid joined in...

The Princess Is In Trouble (Again)!

Just finished up a very fun Star Wars/3rd Ed. 40K game with Private D.   Princess Leia's ship had crash-landed in an Imperial field right beside a Rodian Gambling House.  Within moments the forces of Empire were on the scene.

Ben desperately tries to hold back the Stormtroopers.  But he is old and the Princess is captured.

But then a Rebel rescue party appears.

After a brief fight, Leia is freed and she finishes off her last two captors.

Rebels!

Surprise Attack?

Had a great game with The Kid today.

A Rebel surprise attack on an Imperial command post in the Zynon sector is in turn surprised by a massive Imperial army.

It also turned out that this Imperial Command Post was a bustling Gonk Droid making Factory!

Gonk, Gonk, Gonk, Gonk, Gonk-Gonk, Gonk, Gonk-Gonk...

And these Gonks were great mechanics!  But the real stars of the game were the Tie Crawlers.  They were everywhere.  In the end there was just Han.  It was a crushing defeat for the Rebel Alliance.

Hold The Line!

I love tanks.  Mostly modern/Cold War era stuff.  But yesterday I was thinking about all the possibilities that the 1950's offer in terms of tank vs. tank combat, whether real or Imagi-nation style.  And then I watched a Greatest Tank Battles epsiode on youtube last night - Tanks in the Korean War.   Oh yeah.  So this afternoon, with a 40 minute block of time, out came the T-34/85's and the Shermans.   The situation was dire.  The Communist forces had crossed the porch and were speeding through the hallway.  They must be stopped before they reached the kitchen or all would be lost for the Imperialists.

An understrength division of unpainted Airfix American Marines were sent to hold the line.

Before long a mixed bag of Shermans also joined in the defense of the Kitchen Line.

The T-34/85's hit hard.  The Imperialists had to call in airpower and a battery of self-propelled guns to try and stop the horde of seemingly unstoppable Communist armour.   It was a nailbiter.  Causalities were ridiculuously high on both sides, but neither would break.  It had to go right to the bitter end.  And it did.  When the smoke finally started to clear, all that remained was one badly damaged Sherman.  The Imperialists had won!  Freedom was preserved!

An Unnamed Skirmish

I was originally planning an AK 47 game in 20mm for tonight, but suddenly it just had to in 28mm.
