Coldwar Commander Clash 1989

The Major and I missed our game for Saturday due to this unending bug that has hit the Island.  Anyway, we toughed it out last night to go to Southern Syria in 1989.  The backstory is way too convoluted to explain with a straight face, so please just accept that an Anglo-Jordanian force is in Southern Syria to deflect a cunning Soviet supported Iraqi right hook into Jordan.   And here comes the Iraqis:
But the British were quick to enter the area.
And started to inflict heavy casualties on the Iraqis, forcing them to the brink of breaking when suddenly the Soviets arrive!
With incredible daring (and luck!) the Soviets make it unscathed to Al-Halifala.
Things began to go downhill from there for the brave British and Jordanians.
Until finally, with all the Challengers burning, and the Warriors and Scorpians fleeing, the last of the Jordanians break and run.
Great game!  It was a joy to push around some mirco-scale toys and play Coldwar Commander again.

Beware, Star Wars has come to town!

I was about to post some photos from last night's game when I remembered a couple pictures The Kid had requested I take of the Princetown table.
I had left the table up for him to play on, and well...
Princetown will never be the same.

An Act of Naked Aggression!

Had a great game of Rapid Fire Moderns with Private D a couple of hours ago.   It was super nice gaming with him again, it has been much too long since our last game.

Well, the invasion of Fraganda has begun.  Several Dannian armoured columns crash across the border.
Quiet, peaceful Princetown lies in the path of the aggressors.

And the enemy has helicopters!
But it was not enough to break through Princetown's stout-hearted defenders.

(Ahh, BTR-80's.....)

Third Edition 40K on the Living Room Floor

I love 3rd Ed. 40K!  Yes, I do.  It was the ruleset that brought me back into gaming after a dark age of neglect.  Anyway, I was craving a super quick game and the next thing I knew I was on the rug with a bunch of Valhallans, Halflings and Sisters.  Alright!  ...Yeah.
It was a fun bash ending with the Missionary chasing the remaining Imperial guardsmen off the rug.  Righteousness triumphs again!

Parenting and VOR

Snuck a quick game of VOR in while The Kid watched Roadrunner.  A Union squad on patrol is Ambushed by a group of Neo-Soviet Rad Troopers.
Things start off well for the Neo-Soviets.
But the superior training and firepower of the Union squad prevails in the end.

Solo outing on one of the Pan African Union Planets

Really felt like a quick shoot'em up last night.  And since the table was still set up from the FUBAR game with the Major, I liberated my Framalias from their case and invited them out to play.  I love these figures.  (Britannia Somalis)

A Distress Call from Zynon IV

A detachment of The Squat Liberation Army beams down to a settlement on Zynon IV to answer a distress call.  But where is everyone?  Suddenly there is a rumble and the sky fills with acrid black smoke.  "Ah, that can only be one thing", thinks Capt. Karak, "ORKS!!"    And sure enough an Ork Raider hovers above the settlement and drops out a pile of hopped-up greenskins.    With a whoop and a holler the battle begins...
Captain Karak in action...

While Squad 3 refuses to activate (too busy listening to synth riffs played by the Platoon's musician!)

In the end, an Ork victory.  Boo!  But a great game.  FUBAR rocks!
"We are, we are, we are the ORKS!!"

The first post

So the Major and I have been on an obsessive Sci-fi gaming kick for the last month.   We have been revisiting Warzone, Stargrunt II, VOR and of course, good ol' Rogue Trader.  It has been a blast and has us wanting MORE.   Then we stumbled upon FUBAR, the brilliant one page Sci-fi/modern rule set.  And yesterday Future War Commander arrived in my mailbox.  Ah, what the heck, let's just start a blog!
